Pain Management

Over 13 million Americans suffer from chronic, intractable pain. Pain so intense that many find it difficult to work, sleep or maintain a satisfying quality of life.

Managing your pain
The Pain Management Center at Corona Regional Medical Center was established to help those living with acute, sub-acute or chronic pain. The Center offers evaluation, treatment and follow-up for a wide range of pain conditions.

Advanced spine pain care
Patients who once had very limited treatment options, surgery versus "live-with-it" conditions, can now have fluoroscopically guided procedures to reduce their pain or even salvage the natural disc and return them to function. Than can mean avoiding cutting altogether, faster procedure and recovery, less risk and no scars or bleeding.

The list of nonsurgical spine intervention treatment options includes:
  • Epidurals
  • Nerve Root Blocks
  • Facet Blocks
  • Sacroiliac Blocks
  • Stellate Blocks
  • Lumbar Sympathetic Blocks
  • Intercostal Nerve Blocks
  • Occipital Nerve Blocks
  • Radiofrequency Nerve Ablations
  • Intradiscal Electrotherman Annuloplasty
  • Percutaneous Disc Decompression
  • Spinal Cord & Peripheral Nerve Stimulators
Providing treatment on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, The Pain Management Center remains committed to innovative care, patient education and personalized services.

Treating you as an individual
At the Pain Management Center, our staff will approach your case individually and objectively. The causes of your pain will be thoroughly evaluated and a treatment program developed for your individual needs. Your program will be geared toward maximizing your potential and increasing your functional capabilities.

Providing your care in a team-based environment
Patients who experience pain need a pain program that provides education regarding treatment options, advanced treatment technology and a commitment to guiding the patient through recovery and to an improved quality of life. At Corona Regional Medical Center the Pain Management Team is made up of physicians who are board certified in pain management and physical medicine, an operating room staff of nurses and technologists who are specially trained in pain management treatments, physical therapists, and a case management team who understands the needs of pain management patients. Working together, our staff provides an exceptional range of skills, training, experience and knowledge.

Start by talking to your doctor
Since the Center works primarily from referrals, your pain condition should first be brought to the attention of your regular physician. Your physician can then determine if you should be referred to the Pain Management Center.

Please note, a referring letter or consult notes from your attending physician need to be forwarded to The Pain Management Center prior to your initial visit.

Next we'll give you a thorough evaluation
Most patients who are referred for service will receive an initial evaluation by a specialist who is either a neurologist or an anesthesiologist. This evaluation will consist of a review of available medical records, a history and physical, and a detailed report of findings including diagnosis and proposed treatment plan. Patients needing further diagnostic studies for complaints of pain may receive additional diagnostic services, such as x-rays, CTs, MRIs, labs, myelograms, selective nerve root injections, epidural blocks, trigger point injections, botulinum toxin injections, lumbar facet blocks and sympathetic blocks.

Then we'll design a treatment plan especially for you
After your initial evaluation, a treatment program is developed just for you. The treatment is directed at relieving your pain, teaching you how to manage pain, and increasing your ability to work and carry out a normal lifestyle. The Pain Management Center uses a variety of methods to accomplish these goals.

Rest assured, despite the nature, cause or severity of your pain, the Pain Management Center will provide you with a superior range of programs and clinical options.

What you need for your first visit
  • On your first visit, please bring any x-rays, MRI, CT or myelogram films relating to your pain condition. Your referring physician's office should be able to assist you in obtaining these films and records.

  • A list of all medications you are taking, including the name, dosages (number of pills taken per day), milligrams and how long a period you have been taking the medication.

  • A list of medications you have taken within the past year, including name, dosages (number of pills taken per day), milligrams, how long a period you took the medication, its effectiveness and why you stopped taking it. Also, any allergic reactions you may have had are important to note.
Making your appointments
The services of the Pain Management Center are available by appointment only. This gives the staff an opportunity to allocate enough time to each individual patient, thus maximizing treatment. If you cannot keep a scheduled appointment, please notify our offices as soon as possible.
