Surgery

Anesthesiologists at Corona Regional Medical Center are perioperative physicians who provide patient care throughout the surgical experience. This includes medical evaluation before surgery, consulting with the surgical team, providing pain control and support of life functions during surgery, supervising care immediately following surgery and medically discharging the patient from the recovery unit.

The expertise of the Corona Regional Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology is well recognized. Our physicians are either board certified or board eligible and have completed extensive training in their specialty and subspecialty areas. The team provides a wide range of anesthesia services, from basic inpatient and outpatient services to the subspecialties of cardiac, obstetrical, ambulatory and neurosurgical anesthesia, in addition to acute and chronic pain management. The Critical Care Division of the Department of Anesthesiology contributes to the overall continuity of care for patients who require the expertise of the intensivist.

Departmental Services Areas

Ambulatory Anesthesia
The Anesthesiology team has been caring for ambulatory surgical patients for over a quarter of a century. Today, the majority of our surgical procedures are performed on an ambulatory, or outpatient, basis. Our highly qualified team combines the latest in anesthesia techniques with convenience, professionalism and compassion to allow our patients to return to their usual activities in as short a time as possible.

Obstetrical Anesthesia
The anethesiologist provides clinical anesthesia for obstetrical cases, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. We use a variety of techniques of regional analgesia for labor including epidural, spinal, combined spinal epidural, ambulatory ("walking") epidural and patient-controlled epidural analgesia.
 
Pain Management
The Pain Management team at Corona Regional Medical Center performs inpatient and outpatient consultation for acute and chronic pain disorders. The Pain Management team's services include epidural, patient-controlled analgesia for postoperative pain, medication management, therapeutic/diagnostic blocks and implanted devices.

Critical Care Medicine
The Critical Care Medicine division is responsible for patient care in a 10-bed medical-surgical ICU. Anesthesiologists and critical care physicians at
Corona Regional Medical Center provide multidisciplinary care for all types of medical and surgical patients, including post-operative open heart and trauma.
